It’s a rare treat for us to be able to attend a conference in our beautiful home town of Vancouver, British Columbia. This year, the F5-Expo will be held April 7, 2010 at the Vancouver Convention Centre and we’re going to be there as an official exhibitor! The sponsor list alone promises to make this a very memorable expo and we are encouraging everyone we know to attend. The keynote speaker is Malcolm Gladwell, author of the ‘Tipping Point‘.

The official word directly from the F5-Expo site:

A business conference for executives on changing technologies in the online space such as social media, search marketing, mobile applications, and future trends. The inaugural event will be held on April 7, 2010 in world renowned, Vancouver, Canada.

One of our short term visions for the new year here at Black Ninja is to really pump up our screencast development. We have so many great ideas that we’re excited to bring to you and some that are even written and ready to be recorded! The first in our line up comes from our very own @SQLBelle and we really do hope you’ll enjoy it.

We welcome any constructive feedback and if you have ideas about SQL, SharePoint or .NET videos you’d like to see us record please let us know!

Check out SQL Server Powershell – Part 2 video and let us know what you think! If you haven’t already seen Part 1, you may want to take a peak there first.

Last Class Before Christmas! SQL Server 2005 Transact-SQL Programming

We’ve had a fairly successful year delivering custom developed training packages for our clients and we’ll definitely be continuing this trend in the next few months as the new year rolls in. We also have some nice surprises in store that we’re really excited about and we hope to announce in the next month or two – so stay tuned.

In the mean time, we’ve had some interest in our SQL Server 2005 Transact-SQL Programming class and we’ll be offering it again this December from the 14th to the 16th. The maximum capacity for this class is 4 people and we’re expecting a sold out registration so get in early!

Our SQL Server 2005 Transact-SQL Programming is meant to be a highly interactive class where we encourage as much in class participation as we can. To learn more about cost, instructor, location and expectations, visit us here.

We are experts

Black Ninja Software was created with the idea that great software comes from great people. We are passionate about the technologies we use and continually refine our skills to better master what we do. This is what makes us Ninjas. We architect, design, and implement solutions using Microsoft Office SharePoint Server, SQL Server and ASP.NET.

We create software

If you have a business process that needs refining or automation, or you have a current project in distress that needs rescuing, we can help. Our wealth of experience will create your great idea from scratch if that's what you need ninjas to do for you. In addition to the work we do for our clients, we also have several of our own projects that are currently being developed.

We train

We can train you to become ninjas like us. SharePoint is ginormous. We can break down training into areas that cover your business needs either on-site or over the web. We understand that adopting new technology can often be a challenge and we can help ease the process through our professional SharePoint and SQL Server training services.

Upcoming Training

We also have courses on Ruby on Rails and SharePoint 2007 Application Development!

Check our training page for schedule, content and rates!

How Do You Recognize a Good Developer?

This is a very important question for any new company looking for potential new recruits in today’s competitive job market. I’ve been quite vocal in the past about what I consider to be a good programmer and my core checklist hasn’t changed much since joining this leet group of ninjas. We have a very tight, exceptionally skilled core group of people and it’s often a challenge to find the right fit.
